A FAQ about Vagabonding

FAQs

What is vagabonding, and why do you do it?

Vagabonding is about embracing long-term, slow travel as a lifestyle rather than a vacation. I do it to explore new cultures, meet interesting people, and challenge myself to live simply and adapt to new environments.

How do you afford to travel long-term?

I keep my expenses low, prioritize experiences over material possessions, and find creative ways to fund my travels—like part-time work, budgeting, and sometimes turning my hobbies into income streams.

What’s been your favorite destination so far?

It’s hard to choose, but Ireland stands out for its incredible scenery and warm locals.

How do you pack for vagabonding?

I stick to the essentials: a 35L backpack with versatile, lightweight clothing, a compact camera for toy photography, and a few key items for poker and comedy. Minimalism is key!

What’s the biggest challenge of vagabonding?

The biggest challenge is staying connected with people while constantly moving. It can be lonely at times, but I’ve learned to balance solo travel with building relationships along the way.

Do you have any tips for someone who wants to start vagabonding?

Start small! Try a few weeks of slow travel before committing to long-term. Keep your plans flexible, focus on experiences rather than destinations, and don’t overpack.

What’s the most absurd experience you’ve had while vagabonding?

Introducing Italian teenagers to the pleasure of s’mores over a hostel fireplace.
